What does Included / Excluded mean for uploaded files?
Included files are used when generating exams, quizzes, summaries, and chat answers. Excluded files are skipped until you turn them back on.
Why did generation stop when I switched tabs?
Switching tabs stops the current task right away so you do not run multiple jobs at once. This helps avoid unnecessary usage and quota issues.
What is the difference between Material Assistant, Live Quiz, and Exam Generator?
Material Assistant helps with summaries and questions about your PDFs. Live Quiz is ongoing practice. Exam Generator creates printable exam and answer key PDFs.
Why is there a 30-question cap in Exam Generator?
The cap keeps exam generation fast and consistent, and helps control usage limits. For longer ongoing practice, use Live Quiz mode.
Why does it say “No included PDF files selected”?
This means there are no uploaded PDFs currently set to Included. Turn at least one file to Included, or upload a PDF first.
Why did generation fail with a rate-limit or quota error?
This usually means usage limits were reached or the service was temporarily busy. Wait a bit and try again, or lower the number of questions.
Why does generation sometimes stop and restart?
If you start a new action or switch sections, the current task may pause or stop to avoid duplicates and extra usage. You can start it again from the current mode when ready.
What file type and size are supported?
Upload PDF files. If upload fails, reduce file size or split a large PDF into smaller files, then upload again.
Are my uploaded files and generated exams stored permanently?
Uploaded source files are deleted within 24 hours (see Privacy page). Generated exams stay available in History until deleted.

I. Privacy Policy
1. Data Collection & Use
We collect two types of data:
- Account Information: (e.g., Name, Email, Google Profile ID) which we keep to maintain your account.
- User Content: (e.g., Documents you upload for exam generation). We practice strict data minimization. User Content is uploaded to our secure AWS environment solely to generate exams.
2. The 24-Hour Retention Policy
- Active Deletion: User Content is processed in ephemeral storage (AWS Lambda/S3) and is automatically scheduled for deletion from our active systems within 24 hours of upload.
- Backup Caveat: To ensure system reliability, encrypted fragments of data may persist in our secure disaster recovery backups for a limited period (typically 30 days) before being overwritten. These backups are isolated and not accessed for business operations.
3. Google User Data & "Limited Use" Disclosure
If you link your Google Account, we access your Google Drive to save generated exams or retrieve files only at your specific direction.
- Compliance Statement: AIExamgen's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- No Humans: We do not allow humans to read your Google user data, nor do we use it for advertising purposes.
4. Infrastructure & Security (Ohio SB 220)
We utilize Amazon Web Services (AWS) as our primary infrastructure provider. We maintain a cybersecurity program designed to align with industry standards (NIST), including encryption of data in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). This disclosure is intended to satisfy the affirmative defense requirements under the Ohio Data Protection Act.
5. Educational Compliance (FERPA)
To the extent you are an educational institution, we act as a "School Official" with a legitimate educational interest. We function as a transient processor; because we delete User Content within 24 hours, we do not maintain "educational records" on your behalf long-term.

II. Terms of Use
1. Acceptance & Age
By using AIExamgen.com, you agree to these Terms. You must be at least 18 years old, or authorized by a school/parent if under 18.
2. User Conduct & Termination (Anti-Spam)
We operate on a serverless architecture where excessive use directly impacts our costs.
- Prohibited Acts: You may not use automated scripts to "scrape" the site, send unsolicited bulk requests, or upload malicious files designed to consume excessive CPU or RAM.
- Termination Rights: We reserve the right to suspend or ban your account immediately, in our sole discretion, without notice or refund, if we determine you are spamming, overusing resources, or violating these Terms.
3. Intellectual Property & AI Ownership
- Your Uploads: You retain ownership of the files you upload. You grant us a limited, temporary license to process them solely to generate your exam.
- AI Output: As between you and AIExamgen, you own the exams generated by the system. However, you acknowledge that AI is probabilistic and may generate similar content for other users.
4. AI Disclaimer (No Warranty)
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS."
Artificial Intelligence can "hallucinate" or make errors.
- Accuracy: We do not warrant that generated exams are accurate, factually correct, or free of bias. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all content before administering it to students.
- Liability: We are not liable for any educational outcomes, grading errors, or reliance on the generated materials.
5. Payments & Refunds (Ohio CSPA)
- Payment Processing: Payments for "Pro" accounts are processed by third-party providers (TBD). We do not store your financial data.
- Refund Policy: ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Because our service is digital and costs are incurred immediately upon generation, we do not offer refunds. By purchasing, you acknowledge this specific limitation.
6. DMCA Copyright Policy
We respect copyright law. If you believe your content has been infringed, please send a notice to our Designated Agent containing the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3). We maintain a policy of terminating repeat infringers.
7. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Franklin County, Ohio.
